Summary:

The GUI Designer will be a key team member who works in collaboration with the Web and SEO teams, and takes responsibility for the creation and production of graphics and layout for websites, packaging, and print and multimedia advertising. The Web Designer’s daily work includes generating ideas and working on: banner ads, email design tests and site updates etc. He or she must think in terms of the customer experience and work on how to design for maximum clicks and conversions. He or she should have extensive skills in understanding web marketing and design, application front-end UI development, and excellent visual sense.

The candidate should be an energetic and passionate designer with great insight, creativity and strong desire to be part of a vigorous young team and work well in a fast-paced, results-oriented and values-based environment. The candidate must have a very good sense of online trends with regard to creative direction, frontend technologies, marketing strategies, strong commercial awareness and a “can-do” attitude. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze customers’ needs.
• Define user experience at every step of consumer interaction.
• Design, maintain and enhance web sites and existing web applications and ensure that all internal systems are integrated.
• Propose and design e-mails, newsletters, ads, banners or web pages that drive more revenue.
• Implement product photography and picture edit.
• Develop customer-friendly product pages with professional product images.
• Generate design solutions to improve click rates and conversions and put them into practice.
• Other duties may be assigned as required.

Education and/or Experience:

• Master or bachelor’s degree in graphic, interactive design, marketing, behavioral sciences, communication arts or comparable degree/experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2007.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional design experience and online marketing, with a focus on user centered design.
• Prior experience in creating and developing websites in a professional environment.
• Prior experience and knowledge of major search engine like Google, Yahoo etc.
• Demonstrated web design & development experience.
• Past experience in e-commerce is a plus.
• Past experience with product marketing promotion a plus.
• Past experience with development of marketing communication strategies is a plus.
• Past experience in developing advertising campaigns, including copy writing is a plus.
• Experience with computer hardware and software issues, electronic products, more especially laptop batteries and laptop power supplies is a plus.

Specific Skills:

• Must possess superior technical skills in HTML, Div & CSS, Java Script, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator/ CorelDraw, Dreamweaver, Flash video/animation.
• A keen eye for photography & experience in art directing photo shoots.
• Creative digital photo graphic processing skills.
• Ability to take complex ideas and concepts and translate into creative graphical representations.
• General knowledge of office productivity tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Should have creative thinking, excellent working understanding of design and layout.
• Should have acumen for designing.
• Strong visual design sense with clean typography, page and web layout.
• Previous experience of paid search a plus.
• Relevant works with laptop batteries and chargers is a plus.
• Previous experience with product marketing promotion a plus.
• An outstanding portfolio of excellent user interface design and intelligent process approach demonstrating the above qualities is required. (logos, ads, collateral design, and Flash, etc. An awe-inspiring portfolio showcasing web design is essential.)

General Skills:

• Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines.
• A talent for persuasive presentations and a love of collaboration
• Excellent time management skill and be able to prioritize work for himself/herself and team.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal English & Chinese), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
• High commitment and professional ethics.
• Keeping abreast of developments in IT, particularly design programs.
• Team work player, ability to handle multi-tasking, quick-learning, hard-working.
• Responsible, self motivated, detail-oriented and able to work under pressure.
• Be familiar with English speaking markets is a plus.
